Afghans Seek to Rediscover the Meaning of Leisure
[Developing New Stories | The News is NowPublic.com] That means the putting greens contain no grass. Instead, the surface around the golf holes is a mixture of sand and motor oil. While golfers now struggle to negotiate the rock-strewn fairways, the course at one point during the 1990s was literally a battleground %u2013 the scene of skirmishes between rival Mujahedeen factions who were vying to take control of the capital at the time.

What's worse, the rest of the PGA Tour (indicated in 2000 by blue dots and in 2005 by green) has dramatically increased with little overall impact to driving accuracy:

LPGA: Will Danielle Amiee Get Her Big Break at the Michelob Ultra?
[The Sand Trap .com - Golf News, Reviews, and Opinions for Golfers, By Golfers] Trash-talking Danielle Amiee, probably the most outspoken and condescending of the Big Break III contestants, will be up against 49 of the top 50 players on the LPGA tour this week at what is called "the fifth major." Currently playing golf on the Futures Tour, the 28-year old resident of Newport Beach, California, is no stranger to challenges. Amiee has already competed in both the Australian Open and LPGA Qualifying Finals. Is battling through a grueling nine week reality stint similar to a week-long tournament?

LPGA: LPGA Sex Scandal
[The Sand Trap .com - Golf News, Reviews, and Opinions for Golfers, By Golfers] So, for those of you not in the know, here's the four sentence overview. LPGA Tour player hires a caddie who is 11 years younger to loop. She flirts with him and talks to him about the difficulties she (and her husband) are having trying to conceive a child. The caddie and Tour Player end up having relations and she thus becomes pregnant, and it's a strong likelyhood the Caddie is the father of the child.

Well he finally did it!
[Brians Blog] On Friday I was picked to play in the weekly North Wilts Golf Club swindle in a four with my father. He’s now in his 75th year and has been playing there for some 30 odd years. Unfortunately we were picked in opposing teams but none the less I was there when he managed a hole in one on the sixth, a nice little 103 yard par 3 right at the top of the course and often considered by the locals to be a card wrecker.

LPGA: Teeing It Up at the Michelob Ultra Open
[The Sand Trap .com - Golf News, Reviews, and Opinions for Golfers, By Golfers] With a purse of $2.2 million (the second largest pay-out on tour), and a first place check of over $300,000, this tournament attracts the top contenders in the world. Money leader Annika Sorenstam, number two Lorena Ochoa and last week's winner of the Franklin, Stacy Prammanasudh, are all scheduled to attend. Defending champion Se Ri Pak, number 78 on the 2005 Money List with a meager $20,000 in earnings, has yet to make a move this season. Tied for 81st in birdies, tied for 90th in sand saves and tied for 104th for greens in regulation, it is unlikely that the 25-year old has the mental game to challenge this hot field.

[rustyhinges] Well, Guy can breath easy cause I shot a poor 102 today at Hawk’s Prairie with Gordy. I take comfort in the fact that I had some major meltdowns but I know what I can do to improve my scores. I’m looking foreword to next weeks golf adventures. I had a measly 3 pars, 5 bogeys, and way too many doubles and triples.

LPGA: First Round Seized by Tschetter
[The Sand Trap .com - Golf News, Reviews, and Opinions for Golfers, By Golfers] At the Ironhorse Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, Kris maintained an even pace carding 6 birdies and 3 bogeys and is the only golfer today to have a round in the 60's. Playing the 10th hole first today, Tschetter used her 6-iron to drop a ball 50 feet from the hole then nailing the putt, but evened the score on the next hole, which she bogeyed. Tschetter's putting did not let her down as she sank a 20-footer on the 6th hole, a 396-yard par-4. She then placed her golf ball a foot from the hole with a sand wedge on the 7th for a birdie.

I knew it!
[iBLOGthere4iM] Tiger was about to drop back in a tie for the lead at the Masters. He hit a horrible tee shot on a par three and found himself in horrible position to try to save par. The announcer said, "there's a good chance this shot doesn't make it inside of Dimarco's." Dimarco had a 20 foot put for birdie. I then said to myself, "Knowing Tiger, he'll hole it." We'll be seeing this shot all day tonight, tomorrow and even thru the years.
