Golf Sports Blog >  Sybase Classic: Paula Creamer becomes second-youngest LPGA winner

[ :: Sports Online :: Formula-1, Cricket, Soccer and more] US Teenager Paula Creamer became the second youngest LPGA tournament ever with a win in the Sybase Classic. The tournament is worth around USD 1.25 million and she fired a round of one-under-par 70 in the final segment of the tournament with a birdie on the last hole for this historic victory.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Focused Forward] Wie v. Creamer: The LPGA’s Future?: The media is going to try to drum up the way they’re going about a different way. Paula Creamer is an 18-year old who won her first LPGA tournament this weekend. She’s worked her way up through the junior golf ranks and such alike. Meanwhile, Michelle Wie is 15-years old and regularly tees it up against men.

[The GrunkleGuru] Catching a Nap On Tour: Meanwhile on the LPGA front, we saw one of the young players step up and claim their first victory. Paula Creamer started shaky, but birdied three of her last five holes (including a birdie on 18) to win the Sybase Classic. Oh yeah, she is only 18 and will not get receiving her high school diploma until this weekend. Not too shabby for a girl.

[The Golf Blog] who's your daddy?: But if you go to websites for The Golf Channel, Golf Magazine, and the golf coverage on SI and ESPN, you'll find Kenny Perry as the lead story. Only Golf Digest -- God bless them -- has Paula as the lead. What a shame. The golf media need to stop putting the men first all the time.

[Houston's Clear Thinkers] "Yeah, like really . . .": The youngest player to win an LPGA golf tournament in 50 years emerged yesterday as graduating high school student Paula Creamer won her first LPGA event at something called the Sybase Classic by sinking a clutch 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole.

Bill's Correspondence Chess Diaryhttp://journals.aol.com/williamje/BillsCorrespondenceChessDiary [Bill's Correspondence Chess Diary] Today's golf: Perry has shot an incredible 18 under 192 at the Colonial Country Club outside Fort Worth Texas.  Colonial often called the toughest par 70 in the world  may be getting caught up with via golf's technology that lets players hit 300 yd drives on a regular basis. I can remember when -4 to -6 won this tournament. Right now Perry is on track to shoot one of the lowest  72 hole scores in PGA tour history.

Bill's Correspondence Chess Diaryhttp://journals.aol.com/williamje/BillsCorrespondenceChessDiary [Bill's Correspondence Chess Diary] Get well Colin: LPGA veteran caddy Colin Cann broke his ankle during a practice round yesterday before this weekend's Michelob tournament. The caddy currently employed by Paula Creamer, but formerly a bag toter for Se Ri Pak and Annika Sorrenstam, underwent surgery where a rod was placed in his leg and Colin will be wearing a walking cast for the next six weeks.

[Thegolfblog.com] The Golf Blog: There's a bright future for the LPGA if the up-and-comers like Morgan, Michelle Wie, and Paula Creamer play up to their potential down the road. They will then join the currently rising stars of Lorena Ochoa and Natalie Gulbis on the LPGA tour as the next generation of women golfers. Don't get me wrong: I love Annika, but the LPGA is really hurting for some drama and personalities that exist, for example, on the PGA tour. Or, perhaps a better comparison, the LPGA needs to be more like the women's tennis tour, with the likes of Venus, Serena, Maria Sharapova, Lindsey Davenport, Justin Henin-Hardenne, Kim Clisters, and Jennifer Capriati.

It seems like she's been caddying for Faldo forever.
