[ Gods of Sport - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly from the World of Sports] An era ended on Friday as golf great Arnold Palmer announced he was retiring from competitive golf. The 77-year old Palmer gave the announcement after he withdrew from a tournament after hitting two shots in the water early in the event’s first round.Despite Palmer’s trouble on Friday, he stayed on the golf course and continued playing but did not keep his score.
