Golf Sports Blog > LPGA - Day 1 (for me)
[Running with Scissors] Today was day 1 of the Pro-Am tournament. Unfortunately, the art-to-story communication turned into a big clusterf^&# and today turned out to be a total pain in the a$$.

[Ara Sports] Kane, Bastel lead, Ochoa lurks at LPGA Championship: Trying to become the fourth woman to win three straight majors, Ochoa wanted to get off to a strong start Thursday in the McDonald’s LPGA Championship, and instead had nowhere to go in the rough left of the 13th fairway. She eventually had to walk 50 yards back to play her next shot and took double bogey.
[GolfLeader.com - Leading Worldwide Golf Products!] Golf Headlines June 6th: Gretzky in May was part of a winning pro-am team at a Nationwide Tour event in south Carolina, but said he gets quite nervous at pro-am events, such as the one that will carry his name later this month when he’s paired with fellow Brantford native David Hearn. “There’s nothing worse than a three-foot putt in front of a hundred people,”
[Off the Green] Diaz on Corning: `Its always good to see everybody: Scotia native Laura Diaz conducted a press conference this morning (OK, it wasn’t much of a conference — just her, me, a local writer and an LPGA official) in preparation for this week’s LPGA Corning Classic, which begins Thursday at the Corning Country Club.
[Chicagoland Golf NEWS HOLE] No more sleeping on the job for Berwyns popular Nicole Jeray: Unfortunately, there were too many of those moments for Jeray, who was literally sleeping on the job that day in Connecticut at a Duramed Futures Tour pro-am tournament. Even after she was diagnosed with narcolepsy in 1996 - a chronic neurological disorder that causes a person to have difficulty staying awake - Jeray still struggled to stay awake in most situations.
[Ara Sports] Youth is served by Inbee Park at US Womens Open: Park is more than a year older than Morgan Pressel was when she won last year’s Kraft Nabisco Championship, and the same age as Yani Tseng, who won the LPGA’s second major of the season earlier this month. She was joined on the final leaderboard by the likes of Angela Park, 19;
[Golf Swing Secrets Revealed] Kim Makes PGA Tour Breakthrough: At 22 years and 10 months, Kim closed with 69 for a four-day total of 16-under 277 and a five-stroke victory over former British Open winner Ben Curtis.
[fairwaysandgreens.com] Paula Creamer Wins SemGroup Championship: 1 in drivers, fairway woods and hybrids at the SemGroup Championship. In the driver category, 23 players relied on the SuperQuad, 14 used the new Tour Burner driver and 13 players put the Burner into play.
[Tee Off in Scotland] Golf News May #3: Finchs ball was OK and he went for the green with his third and as the ball safely found the putting surface, Finch lost his balance and to everyones amusement fell into the water! After being pulled out by his caddie, Finch re-grouped and after taking three putts for a bogey he had claimed a two shot victory from Aguilar with a winning 10 under-par 278 total.
[Tees2Greens] Phils Wins in Los Angeles: Perhaps the biggest event of the game came from, unfortunately a rules official. On the tenth hole, Angela Park, who at the time was 7 under par, was handed a two stroke penalty for slow play.
[Home Page] DAILY NOTES - March 30, 2008: The committee which steers the Hope is occasionally criticized for being, shall we say, a bit behind the times, and their largely unexplained decision to axe two-year tournament host George Lopez (which gave them at least some entrée into the much-coveted younger demographic) might appear to back such assertions up. Arnold Palmer will come aboard for a one-off hosting of next year’s 50th anniversary edition, but aside from giving the committee a nostalgia rush (and perhaps generating a bit more business for Palmer’s La Quinta restaurant), it’s hard to see how terminating the popular and committed Lopez in favor of this one-time visit from Palmer advances the cause.
[Welcome to Jill McGill's Blog] WORLD WIND START: On Sunday we packed up the gear and crew (including my sister Shelley who was nice enough to caddy for me for two weeks) and headed to Ko-Olina. I really can’t complain about the LPGA’s opening act. Two weeks of sunshine and beautiful beaches……Unfortunately I struggled with my game at Ko-Olina. My best play came in the pro-am. Maybe it was because I had such great partners! I might be able to blame my play on more poor eating for the week. I couldn’t resist the temptation of the fabulous catering we had all week at Roy’s. If you haven’t been to Roy’s I highly suggest a visit.
[The Editors' Blog] A Wie Line in the Sand: Sirak concluded that the Wie controversy and player backlash had caused the LPGA to get tougher”¦on pro-am protocol, on entourage rules (only players and caddies on the range, for example), on special treatment in general: .
[The Golf Blog] Michelle Wie defends herself, refuses to apologize: That's why I saved my wrist because I wanted to play this week and I wanted to play in the U.S. (Women's) Open, and my heart has really taught me that I really want to play and I want to do as I want to do, and my doctor said that it's totally fine, I can totally play and I won't hurt it anymore; my bone is completely healed.
