[About.com Golf] Over the weekend, rumors of misconduct emerged following the disqualifications of Shi Hyun Ahn and Il Mi Chung after the first round. Ahn and Chung signed scorecards after they played one another's golf balls on the final fairway and failed to correct their mistake.

Ballengee, who’s on this one like Bob Woodward with sunscreen, also spoke to a second source who said that Downey’s caddie was going to blow the whistle on Ahn and Chung before the two women fessed up:

To my knowledge, they’re first-time offenders, so perhaps a suspension and a fine will suffice.

[Waggle Room] UPDATE 3: Conspiracy Allegations Made in LPGA Disqualifications ...: By the time Ahn noticed (if that was on the green, not in the fairway), both had already violated the rules and desreved disqualification, Had it been called to the rules official’s attention when Ahn first noticed, it would have resulted the same way, but it would have looked better. So why are you demeaning Smich for coming clean?

[Golf TV - Golf Videos, News, Players] Two LPGA players involved in a disqualification turned fishy ...: While what exactly happened is still a bit up in the air, the bottom line is that two players knew they had done something against the rules, and signed an incorrect scorecard anyway. If this is something that has actually happened in the past, and players from other countries are using their language barrier to speak about something without the rest of the group knowing, some rules might have to be put in place.

Regardless, both Ahn and Chung went to the scoring tent and signed their scorecards as though nothing inappropriate had occurred.

The LPGA actually had a meeting with the Korean players (no one else Sebastien) a couple years ago admonishing them for the actions of their parents.

[Teeing Off] Teeing Off » Smich's cheating allegations taint CN Canadian ...: Given the language barrier issues Korean players seem to have on the LPGA Tour, there really isn’t some sort of conspiracy theory when Ahn and Chung “conversed in Korean.” As for the alleged statement “you didn’t see anything” directed at the caddie, could it not have been uttered in the form of a question? You know, like when a player asks his caddie “How far to clear that hazard?”
