http://thesandtrap.com [The Sand Trap .com - Golf News, Reviews, and Opinions for Golfers, By Golfers] The players had a chance to honor Byron Nelson in last week's tournament, and this week they will be honoring another golf legend. When golf fans hear the name Colonial, most think of the great Ben Hogan. The Fort Worth native won at Colonial five times in his legendary career, helping to elevate the tournament to great heights. Last week at the Byron Nelson Championship, all of the members of the "Big Five" were present.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Sports - Golf] Out of sight: Perry: Kenny Perry experienced some problems with his vision during Friday's second round of the Colonial which made it hard for him to read greens and see clearly from long distances. But it didn't seem to matter as Perry fired a 7-under 63 and grabbed a three-stroke lead.

[Texas Golf] Colonial Predictions: We also like Chris DiMarco, who seems to be on every leaderboard this year and seems to have a game suited to Colonial. Then there's Justin Leonard, a DFW native and resident who played well at the Nelson and was runner up at Colonial in 2003. And we'd love to pick Mike Weir, but Weir just hasn't been playing well enough lately (but if he winds up winning, we're taking credit!)

[Texasgolf.blogspot.com] Texas Golf: So we've changed the code to show discount green fees in Texas. Many of the green fees listed are in the Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio areas, but if you click on the little "View All" link at the bottom left of the eBay box you'll find many more green fees including some from other areas of the state. We hope our readers will find these listings more interesting than our first attempt to crassly make a few cents off eBay!

[Texasgolf.blogspot.com] Texas Golf: Stars are Coming to Nelson: ... Officials at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship already have received commitments from five of the world's top nine golfers for their May 12-15 event at the Four Seasons Resort in Irving. There is optimism - well-founded optimism, from all indications - that the world's top five players might be in the field when opening rounds are played at the TPC Las Colinas and the Cottonwood Valley Course.

[Texasgolf.blogspot.com] Texas Golf: March 2005: The PGA of America's Professional Golf Management Program offers college students "a curriculum that provides a combination of golf and business-related subjects for aspiring members of the golf industry." Going through the program is one of the quickest and best ways for aspiring golf pros to enter the industry. The PGA/PGM is offered at 17 universities around the U.S., and now one of those universities is in Texas.

[Texasgolf.blogspot.com] Texas Golf: May 2005: There are many excellent prospects among Texas golfers, guys and gals who could have a future in professional golf if they get the right opportunity. There are mini-tours in Texas such as the Tight Lies Tour, National Golf Tour and Texas Professional Golf Tour, not to mention better known tours such as the Hooters Tour and Canadian Tour around North America. Golfers such as Ryan Palmer and Jimmy Walker are among the recent graduates of such tours who are now on the PGA Tour.
